The Star newspaper quotes Malaysian Deputy Science and Technology Minister Kong Cho Ha as saying some writers are posting controversial articles to attract readers.
He wants tough new laws brought in to have bloggers registered, "We are talking about creating cyber laws to control those who misuse the Internet," he is quoted as saying.
"We need to have stricter cyber laws to prevent these bloggers from disseminating disharmony, chaos, seditious material and lies,"
One wonders why a man with obvious inteligence, (he can't be an idiot to be the Malaysian Deputy Science and Technology Minister) would say something so stupid?
I wouldn't mind listening to his explanation why the former parliamentary secretary of Golkar, the biggest political party in Indonesia and the largest member of the coalition Government of the President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyon, Mr Yahya Zaini was not named by the Malaysian press as the man who was caught up in the sex tape scandal with
Indonesian singer Maria Eva.
And he wants to "prevent these bloggers from disseminating disharmony, chaos, seditious material and lies,"
Zaini resigned a couple days ago after he was caught up in that sex tape scandal, i wonder if the Malaysian people have been told about it yet?
I think there's a fair chance that he resigned before any "official" announcement in the PRESS was made to the Malaysian people, those who surf the net would have got the news in Blogs long before Government officials told the people or the press was allowed to report the facts.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian town of Kota Baru is turning back the clock with $138 fines to be handed out like Xmas Cards to any woman who decides to dress 'indecently'.
To give you some idea of what they are up against, this part of the world still has separate check out counters for men and women at supermarkets.
Muslim and non-Muslim women are not allowed to wear any body hugging outfits, blouses that show the navel, see-through blouses, miniskirts and tight pants. You best have a little ass.
Muslim women are also bound by law to wear ankle-length dresses and to cover their hair and forehead.
State local government committee chairman Takiyuddin Hassan is quoted as saying, "We apologize to non-Muslims if this comes across as harsh but we must respect our Asian culture and religion in public,"
There will no doubt be a rush on for them mail order bride jobs.
